THOROLD COMMUNITY FOOD DRIVE
The fourth annual Thorold Community-Wide Food Drive is back!
One Thorold and local Churches sponsor this large-scale community food drive in support of Community Care. Thanks to the generosity of Thorold community members, this initiative has grown each year, collecting thousands of pounds of food and monetary donations.
Thorold residents are being asked to participate in one of two ways:
- By volunteering to act as a drop-off point and handing out flyers in their neighbourhood the week before June 3. Volunteers would then deliver the collection to Community Care before 5pm on June 3 or any time in the week following.
- By donating non-perishable food items at a local drop-off point or directly to Community Care at 19 Albert St W.
If you would like to volunteer as a drop-off point in your neighbourhood, please contact Karen Schilstra, karenschilstra@gmail.com, or Maxine at Community Care, thorold@communiytcarestca.ca

FREE MENTAL HEALTH SERIES
Now more than ever, millions of Canadians are struggling to cope mentally with the ‘new normal’ lifestyle changes of the COVID-19 pandemic. In particular, almost everyone seems to be under some added mental stress or anxiety due to these challenges — not to mention it’s January in Canada, the coldest and darkest month of the year.
With these mental challenges and stresses in view, One Church Thorold and One Thorold have partnered with local leaders and professionals to offer a 4-week series on mental health. The best part is it’s free and available to everyone.
This mental health series begins on the same week as the 12th annual Bell Let’s Talk Day — an initiative aimed, in part, to raise awareness and engage mental illness, depression and anxiety.
The mental health series will offer tools to help strengthen mental health. It is intended for those struggling with mental health, stress or anxiety. Further, it’s for those who would like to gain new tools and practices to maintain ahealthy mental and emotional state.

Thorold Prayer Breakfast
Tuesday, November 25, 2020
One Thorold will be hosting the 3rd annual Thorold Leaders Prayer Breakfast via Zoom. The theme for this year’s prayer breakfast is: “A Caring Community.”
The event will include a time to connect with local leaders over breakfast from home via Zoom with various Thorold churches, businesses, community organizations, and public services. Following a time of connection, we will hear from this year’s dynamic speaker, Pastor Ken Macquarrie.
After being inspired by Pastor Ken, the event will shift to an update from Thorold’s mayor. Further, there will be updates from One Thorold’s progress in developing Neighbourhood Hubs throughout the city and the work of the Housing Committee regarding developing local housing solutions with community-supports with a goal to help the homeless and the precariously housed in our city off the streets in Thorold.
